SPHAIR flight school

SPHAIR finds young Swiss future pilots and paratroopers. Experts from civil and military aviation examine the candidates in a multi-stage process and prepare them for practice. The SPHAIR certificate is a proof of the talent and commitment of the candidates. It is the ticket for the professional jump into the third dimension.

After successful screening in Dübendorf, the second step is the assessment of aptitude for flying. This takes place in a SPHAIR flight school and lasts 2 weeks.

Aero Locarno SA is one of the flight schools that carries out numerous of these courses every year on behalf of the Swiss Air Force.

Locarno offers ideal conditions for these courses. The basic training of the Air Force on the PC7 also takes place here.

The course programme is interesting and varied. Under ideal conditions, the training will take place according to the following programme. However, changes and adjustments must always be expected during the course, as the program depends strongly on the weather conditions.

Accommodation, Meals

Accomodation

For the duration of the course you will live in the training centre for military pilots and paratroopers operated by the Swiss Air Force.

Meals

In the newly built Mensa of the military airfield you take your meals together with future and » experienced » military pilots. The kitchen offers a cultivated and above-average quality. Outside the Mensa’s opening hours you can eat in the restaurant at the airport, which is well known for its good cuisine and excellent pizzas.

Costs

The federal government will contribute a maximum of CHF 45.00 per day to the costs of food and accommodation. Your personal share is CHF 30.00 per day.
